ABOUT

Gabriella has most recently worked as an Associate for Olivia Barr on theatre projects for Bolton Octagon, Salisbury Playhouse, and Colchester Mercury theatres, amongst others. She was also a Casting Assistant and then Casting Director for the in-house department at the BBC for five years, primarily working on Casualty and Doctors, as well as Father Brown and Shakespeare & Hathaway. In addition, she completed a stint as an Associate at Amy Hubbard Casting, where she mainly worked on Maternal for ITV Studios. Prior to all this, she was a freelance Casting Director for fringe theatre, rehearsed readings, and independent short films.

She is proud to have been the first Associate Casting Director at the Hope Theatre in Islington where she cast 2016’s in-house productions, all of which went on to garner a number of Offie awards and award nominations.

She was previously the resident Casting Director for Iris Theatre, based at the Actors’ Church in Covent Garden, where she was involved in casting Shakespearean productions, scratch performances of new work, and an experimental circus piece. She has also assisted on casting productions at the Finborough Theatre and Upstairs at The Gatehouse, as well as taking the lead in casting productions at the Park Theatre, Southwark Playhouse and King’s Head Theatre, along with rehearsed readings at the St James Theatre and Soho Theatre.

Gabriella found her passion for theatre whilst studying French and Italian at the University of Manchester, leading her to undertake a number of administrative internships with theatres, opera companies, and producers, before landing on casting as her creative field of choice.

Her excellent memory for names and faces, as well as a keen interest from a young age in following the careers of particular actors, made for an ideal starting point and she has continued to hone these skills, as well as gaining knowledge in the knitty gritty of the daily life of a casting professional. Going to the theatre at least twice a week (both in London and further afield) is also, naturally, a key part of her life.

She is happy to receive show invites from both actors and agents, but please note that she is not always able to respond to them.

Gabriella is a probationary member of the CDG and a BAFTA Connect member.
